As I’ve gotten older giving gifts seems to matter less and less around the holidays. Now, for me, it’s more about enjoying time with my family and husband, great food, and taking time to slow down and enjoy the moment. Shopping for gifts just gets annoying and wrapping them seems to take forever. This year I decided not to be a grinch about it and thought it I made my own festive wrapping paper it would be funner.
My plan of attack was simple: plain brown paper (you can use brown kraft paper or recycle a Trader Joe’s bag like I did), stamps and a stamp pad, and some cute washi tape.
I’m obsessed with washi tape. Finding holiday-themed washi tape is really what inspired me to DIY my gift wrapping this year.
Wrap your gift in the brown paper and then decorate any way you like with the tape.
The other way I made my gift wrapping cute and personalized was to stamp on the recipient’s name instead of using a gift tag. I used my stamp set from the Curiosity Shoppe’s line for Target. They are ransom note style, I love them!
Brown paper + washi tape + stamped name = CUTE.
The washi tape is also great for covering seams, folds, or creases in the brown paper (especially if you use recycled grocery bags).
I doubled up the tape on this one because it’s a larger present. I really love how it turned out.
I hope everyone likes my special wrapping this year!
